OTX Castle Blast Shields Are Back in Stock at Mid State Firearms

If you’ve been searching for the popular Castle Blast Shield, the wait is over.

The OTX Castle Blast Shield by Mid State Firearms is now back in stock and ready to ship. As the successor to the legacy Breek Arms Outside Threaded / Castle system, the OTX line continues the same proven design and remains fully compatible with existing Castle muzzle devices that use the 13/16×16 outside-thread interface.

Whether you’re replacing an older blast shield or building a new rifle, you can confidently add the OTX Castle Blast Shield to your setup without changing your existing Castle-compatible muzzle device.

Why Use a Blast Shield?

Muzzle brakes are excellent at reducing recoil, but they often come with a tradeoff: increased side blast and concussion.

Anyone who’s fired a short-barreled AR-15 or stood next to one at an indoor range knows how punishing muzzle blast can be.

A blast shield redirects those gases and concussion forward instead of outward, making shooting more comfortable for both the shooter and everyone nearby. They’re especially popular on:

  • AR-15 pistols
  • Short-Barreled Rifles (SBRs)
  • Competition rifles
  • Indoor range firearms
  • Training rifles with aggressive muzzle brakes

Unlike a suppressor, a blast shield does not reduce the overall report of the firearm. Instead, it redirects the blast away from the shooter and those standing alongside the firing line.

Modular When You Want It

One of the biggest advantages of the Castle system is its flexibility.

Running the flash hider or muzzle brake by itself? Leave the blast shield off for maximum recoil reduction or flash suppression.

Need to tame concussion at the range or while shooting around others? Simply thread the blast shield onto the outside of your compatible muzzle device in seconds—no tools required.

This gives you the ability to configure your rifle for different environments without changing muzzle devices.
